Murdon is a texting-based role-playing game. The primary difference between Murdon and many other games of a similar genre is its mobility and its streamlined rules that make the game easy to learn and play. It doesn’t require any tools, dice, or payments of any kind. Everything is handled by your ChatMaster, so all you need to do is build a character, send a text, and wait for a response.

What is Murdon?
Murdon is a texting-based, "tabletop" role-playing game. Its mobile design enables unique features, including the ability to effectively split the party through asynchronous gameplay. Players can enjoy the game anytime, even if other party members aren't available. Murdon's streamlined ruleset makes the game easy to learn and play.
How do you play?
Murdon is designed to be an incredibly easy game to play. Most of the rules are managed by the ChatMaster (CM), so players can focus on the story. The CM will send a description of your environment, and you'll respond with a text describing your character's actions. There are only two sets of rules players need to learn: how to build a character and the combat rules. Both sets of rules can be found here, on this website! You can start building your character here.
One of the most useful sections of this website is the character-building section. It not only provides all the information you need to construct your new character but also offers a wealth of reference information for world-building, new proficiency choices, and general details on what each proficiency can accomplish.
The gods of Murdon are important figures, keeping the world running and heavily involving themselves in many of the stories created in Murdon. With so many beings closely tied to Murdon lore, they can be difficult to keep track of. To help, a convenient list and description of each god are provided here.
Murdon's lore is built up by every player or ChatMaster (CM) who has ever participated in a campaign. As you can imagine, this leaves a lot of information to sift through. But never fear! The lore section makes finding the information you need easy. Remember, don’t overwhelm yourself trying to know everything. The best stories come from those who create their own and worry about blending in with established lore later!
Have comments or concerns, or just need to get in contact with someone on our team? This is the page for you! Like our lore, our business is built on our fans: we ALWAYS want to hear from you, whether it’s for criticism or compliments.
The first stop for anyone new to Murdon, the Player's Guide offers a comprehensive explanation of all the rules. Designed to make it easy for both seasoned roleplayers and those new to the genre to join in, it’s also a stellar reference for experienced players who have questions about specific rules.
We wouldn’t be here without the many people who have invested time, money, and effort to make Murdon possible. It’s important to give them recognition, so we’ve made sure to give them a shoutout here! Note that Murdon is primarily managed through Discord: to protect the identity of some of our volunteers, their Discord usernames are listed rather than their legal names.
