Character Building

How to build a character

Ultimately, the decision on what features a character can have will come from the player and the ChatMaster. However, all starting characters will share a set of guidelines: namely, a race and their set of proficiencies, often referred to as "profs."

picking a race

Under character building, you'll find a link called "Races". This provides a list of fantastical races that exist in the world of Murdon. Each has its own history and set of strengths and weaknesses. Look through this list and decide which race you would most prefer to play as.

Picking your profs

The remaining pages under character building are weapons, magic, and skillsets. Each of these represents a broad category of proficiencies (profs) you can choose from. Every character starts with four profs and can end the game with a maximum of eight. Profs begin at level one and can be upgraded to a maximum of four. A character can level up by performing tasks exceptionally well or by demonstrating exceptional creativity. The ChatMaster decides when level-ups are awarded and which prof receives the upgrade. Once a prof reaches level four, the player gains one of two special abilities, which varies depending on the prof.
If players are interested in advancing a proficiency beyond level four, they can choose to take a mastery. This advanced version of the original proficiency enhances its effectiveness, allowing it to reach level eight. When a mastery reaches level eight, the player gains whichever special ability they didn't previously take
