Famous Artifacts
Magic weapons, armor, and artifacts are a common site in the worlds of Murdon. but there are also many, many artifacts that have risen past their original station and become famous across the multiverse, and many more still that have since fallen into obscurity and entirely forgotten. below are some of the artifacts still out there today, usally stored and maintained by gods or progenitors, though there are many more that simply aren't acoounted for.
The Blade of Brave Arkus ~The Blade of Brave Arkus is the legendary greatsword once wielded by the god of heroes, Arkus, though it was known to appear in some worlds as a much smaller shortsword. The Blade of Arkus had a soul of it’s own that was known to set the blade alight with whatever magic the wielder know. Typically, this was an elemental spell, especially dark magic. But the blade was also capable of casting much more abstract spells on itself, often causing unpredictable effects
Graviton Axe ~An Axe that was only capable of being lifted by one of immense strength, both of the body and of the spirit. It’s effects on gravity are often unpredictable, though it will always seek to assist those good of heart. The axe has a hammer on it’s other side, allowing it to be used either as an axe or a blunt weapon. Both are capable of striking with such force that it can send ripples through the very force of gravity, causing objects to go flying, or sending enemies hurtling to the ground
Hysteria ~Hysteria is a staff forged from the bones of a long forgotten god. It radiates pure, concentrated magic and it’s entire length is coal black in color. Hysteria’s power focuses on strengthening illusionary spells and abilities, often adding other spells into the mix to make them more realistic. It’s power is so absolute and powerful that it’s victims feel as though they’ve been put into another world, and such a world could drive the victim to madness or even death
Requiem ~A blade forged out of pure sunflame, after an explosion of the sun’s energy was focused by the god of the wind, Reka. the explosion was designed to destroy the demon king in a long past age, but the end result was simply the creation of this sword. Regardless, a single swing from this blade has the full force of that initial explosion. At full strength, with the right wielder, it could level cities
Redeemer ~Built by noble who was known throughout the land as being incorruptible, any who are dealt a mortal blow by this Estoc will be purified of all evil, allowing them to live their life a changed man or woman if they survive, or to escend to an eternal resting place if they do not. In addition, this blade is enchanted to grow rose bushes at a rapid pace, with thorns sharp enough to tear most men to shreds
Twisted Avenger ~A suit of armor crafted by mortals for Gale Brightstead, before he ascended to godhood. This armor is constructed of swirling black and white metal of an unkown origin. It’s one of the most powerful suits of armor known to man, while still allowing the wearer to travel and move around with relative ease. On command, the armor will erupt into holy flames, that will heal the wearer and harm any opponent that gets too close. In addition to all of this, it’s resistant to magic
Apocolypse ~A glaive wielded by Bartholemew, King of Evil. a Murdonian artifact of increidble power, every strike it lands strikes a second time with powerful time magic. In addition, the head of the spear is constantly wreathed in both holy and dark magic, a representation of his own heavenly and hellish form
Sentinel~
A helmet worn by Kaevar Dane before he ascended to godhood. It is an ovular dome of sheer, featureless metal lacking any opening for the eyes or mouth. Contrary to the expected blindness of such a helmet however, those who wear it find their vision fantastically enhanced. Those who wear Sentinel upon their head may see through solid objects or even deception itself at will. All but the very strongest illusions fall away beneath its gaze and the shadows provide no shelter. What's more, it provides enhanced range of vision proportionate to the perceptiveness of the wearer. It is said that from his seat in Absolution, vigilant Kaevar may gaze at any point of any plane at will while wearing his helm. Only magic akin to that of the gods may obscure one from its sight.
